In 2012, I had the pleasure of working on a retrospective of my father’s work, entitled Reflections - The Art of Bert Hoddinott Jr. Along with my siblings and our mother, Barbara, we planned out the structure of the collection – selecting pieces to feature, establishing a general timeline of his work, and capturing the art for depiction on the printed page.
We wanted to keep it simple and clean, reflective of my dad’s artistic style. The pages feature only the painting and its details within the white background, letting the colors and lines of the art speak for themselves. Page three features a forward by Bo Phillips, a long-time friend and co-worker at Foote Cone & Belding, where my father spent three decades as an Art Director.
